I believe everyone deserves to live where passion, joy and vision are realized.
Here’s a little more about me + my practice
I work with people of all ages, genders, and identities to build skills that address depressive symptoms, traumatic experiences, and anxiety. My main area of expertise is working with people living with trauma and/or childhood trauma. I am very intentional about cultivating an LGBTQ+ affirming and sex-/body-positive practice and creating a space for black bodies to thrive.
If you want a space to laugh, cry, vent - then I might be a good fit for you. I offer a free initial consultation session so that prospective clients can see if my style is something they might find helpful.
Undergraduate School
I received my undergrad degree (Bachelors of Science) in Social Work at Iona College, now Iona University, in New Rochelle, NY in 2010.
Graduate School
I received my masters degree in (Masters in Social Work) at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY in 2013.
License
I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social worker in New York State as of August 2020.
I received a certificate training at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in Trauma Studies located in the Lincoln Center area in Manhattan. As a contribution, I currently support as a semester anchor for the 2 Year Trauma Studies cohort. In this role I serve as a liaison between students and instructors and provide support as needed.
I have plans to train in IFS (Internal Family Systems).
Additional Learning
I am proud to have completed a wonderful course by Dr. Shawna Murray-Browne in her framework design called Decolonizing Therapy for Black Folks. The beauty about this framework is that it's an embodied practice for the clinician. I just began my journey and am currently looking at all the ways to decolonize the way I was taught to practice psychotherapy, decolonizing my own understanding of myself in this country and how to provide sound therapy specifically for BIPOC people.
